Statement (1995 - 2005):
IN 1993, I first lectured in MARA
University of Technology, at the Faculty of Art and Design (Foundation
Course), with emphasis on the topic of Element and Principle of Design. Within the duration as a lecturer, I managed to do
some research in my spare time to acquire in-depth knowledge and understanding about the topic mentioned above. I discovered
that MOVEMENT was not only interesting, but is also an essential element in any artwork. After 2 years of research, in 1995,
I finally developed the MOVEMENT SERIES, and it is continuously perfected to date. From my point of view, Movement is Life,
every living thing moves.

THE paintings that are on show are acrylics, finished with oil bar. He first
acquainted himself with the oil bar in England
and gladly found his style and the oil bar complementary. His publicist says that most of Suzlee paintings have a strong expressionistic
slant, suggested by the spontaneous brush stroke. The artist has also found himself replacing his brushes and palette knife
with other malleable objects. Suzlee also replaces his dominant brush strokes using repeated lines. The result is a totally
different style but with essence of his previous works. Suzlees art is collected by serious collectors and public figures.

The ‘Roots Series:
An Introduction’ is the 14th. solo exhibition of Suzlee Ibrahim’s. Amongst Suzlee’s collector of his artworks
from previous series (the Movement Series from 1995-2005) are, Balai Seni Lukis
Negara (Movement Series, Highgrove - 2001) and Bank Negara (Movement Series, Tulip 1 - 2004). Suzlee proudly tells the later
in ‘Roots Series’ is now in the safe of His Majesty The Yang Di-pertuan Agong Sultan Mizan (Lautan Biru - 2007).
The new theme, Roots Series
started in the early of 2007. It is a continuation to the Movement Series which has marked its 12th year. The Movement series
has stayed on since 1995 because of the love Suzlee felt for its expressive and spontaneous brush strokes and gestures on
the canvas. In his new artworks Suzlee continues to play with colours and compositions. The paintings are finished with oil
bar in confident lines coherently showing the ownership of abstract painting in his style. Like its name, ‘Roots Series:
An Introduction’ is an exhibition to introduce a new series which exhibits Suzlee’s best twenty pieces for show.
Suzlee Ibrahim started
painting seriously since 1987, while studying at the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. For 20 years, Suzlee focuses on
becoming an abstract painter, and his effort is definitely paid off. His participation in arts does not limit in the country
but he is also actively involved overseas. Some of the countries which Suzlee has displayed his artworks are the United Kingdom,
USA, Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Brazil, Cuba, Spain, Canada, China, Argentina, Greece, Poland, UAE, Australia,
Bangladesh and Nepal.
